Test Case Structure

Each test case follows this standard format:

Test Case ID

TC_[Module]_[Number]

Title

Brief, descriptive title

Description

Detailed description of what is being tested

Preconditions

  • System state required before test execution
  • Test data needed
  • User permissions required

Test Steps

  1. Step-by-step actions to execute
  2. Expected results for each step

  • Critical (P0)

  • Priority: Critical
  • Preconditions: Clean database, valid email service
  • Steps:
    1. Navigate to registration page
    2. Enter valid user details
    3. Click register button
    4. Check confirmation email
  • Expected: User account created, confirmation email sent

TC_AUTH_002: User Login

  • Priority: Critical
  • Preconditions: Registered user account
  • Steps:
    1. Navigate to login page
    2. Enter valid credentials
    3. Click login button
  • Expected: User logged in successfully, redirected to dashboard

Course Management Suite

TC_COURSE_001: Create Course

  • Priority: High
  • Preconditions: Logged in as instructor
  • Steps:
    1. Navigate to course creation page
    2. Fill course details
    3. Add course content
    4. Publish course
  • Expected: Course created and visible to students

TC_COURSE_002: Enroll in Course

  • Priority: High
  • Preconditions: Published course exists, logged in as student
  • Steps:
    1. Browse courses
    2. Select course
    3. Click enroll button
    4. Complete payment (if required)
  • Expected: Student enrolled, access to course content

Payment Suite

TC_PAYMENT_001: Successful Payment

  • Priority: Critical
  • Preconditions: Course with price, valid payment method
  • Steps:
    1. Add course to cart
    2. Proceed to checkout
    3. Enter payment details
    4. Complete payment
  • Expected: Payment processed, enrollment confirmed

TC_PAYMENT_002: Failed Payment

  • Priority: High
  • Preconditions: Course with price, invalid payment method
  • Steps:
    1. Attempt payment with invalid card
    2. Submit payment
  • Expected: Payment rejected, appropriate error message
